Is brunch without avocado toast even brunch?
RESTAURANT REVIEW: Eggspectations Ellicott City, MD.
A few weeks back my best friends and I decided to make the trek about 30 mins across town to Eggspectations. Some of us were pros and others not so much-- me. This was my first time actually dining at the place I had gawked over in Instagram hashtags for months. It was finally here and after a night of boozing it up, we all needed this hungover-curing brunch.
The restaurant is way bigger than I expected. For some reason, I was thinking of a quaint little town cafe. Actually, it was a huge cafe, that slightly resembled an old brewery of sorts. There's a bar in the center with window seating surrounding it. It pretty much had two giant sides and also outdoor patio seating. The place gets very crowded on the weekends so there's a lot of people, which can be noisy for some but I didn't mind. Did I mention that EVERYTHING was egg shaped? Even the front door handles were. So cute and chic. I can't even. As a person who loves eggs I was so hype about the decor.
Our waiter was very knowledgable and willing to answer my many newbie questions. She even was super nice about bringing us sides of avocado for our must have avocado toast + she bought out Siracha with our eggs, so she'd already won me over. ( I seriously need to invest in one of those siracha keychains) I was also presently surprised that our omelette's came with bagels. Not just a bagel slice. A WHOLE BAGEL. Maybe it's just me, but that hadn't happened before at any other brunch spot. In a nutshell, the place is poppin' and always swarmed with hungry brunch-goers. Get there early, especially on Sundays.
I ordered the Lobster Omelette which comes with potatoes, assorted fruit and a bagel of choice. Of course, I added a fruit smoothie too. Eggspectations are all about their smoothies, I hear they offer samples of all the fresh smoothies to try. (its too bad they didn't while I was there, next time) All of my friends were raving about the lyonnaise style potatoes and I must say they were perfect. Slighty crunchy how breakfast potatoes should be, but not too hard. The smoothies could have been a tad sweeter- but hey at least I know they're not loaded up with sugar, right? I was very pleased with my meal. Eggspectations is definitely worth the hype. I can't wait to go again and try out their lunch & dinner menu.
Rating: 4.5 pieces of avocado toast
You. Me. Lunch. started as a saying between my best friend, Khaila, and I. It's been our way of saying 'see ya later' since we were seven years old. I guess you can say I'm an actual food baby.
