Hi there.

Welcome to my blog - I’m Briona and I document my travel, food and poetry adventures from around the world. Stay for a while!

 Duck & Waffle: London, England

Duck & Waffle: London, England

The Scoop:

Duck and Waffle is known in London, quite possibly around the world. It's located on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower building in East London. The food is a mix of British and European cuisines with a twist. Everything is prepared fresh as they are open 24/7, 365. You can literally come to Duck & Waffle whenever, no excuses.

The Ambiance:

Not so fast! Before you start planning your outfit and Instagram captions, Duck & Waffle is by reservation only. I'd heard this before after living in London, but I didn't know exactly how serious they were. Let me tell you, they mean it. We were stopped by a velvet rope and a beautiful man with an ipad guestlist. Spots fill up quick, so book days ahead.

We're ushered around to the elevators where we step into a glass box, with city views of course. Before I know it, we're here. We walk into a slightly hipster bar area with vibey music and omg, we're really far up.

As we walk further, past the bar, we enter Duck & Waffle. I casually elegant and chic restaurant that will make you feel brand new. The service is impeccable. We didn't go thirsty for one second before our waiter was there refilling our wine glasses. The table and food presentation was flawless from start to finish.

The Food:

So what should you order at Duck & Waffle? Glad you asked. For starters, order their artisan fresh breads. We loved the Rosemary & Garlic and Maple Glazed Cornbread with Harissa Yoghurt. The rosemary & garlic was fresh and soft. The Maple Glazed Cornbread was a mix of flavors. SO BOMB. Sweet, yet spicy, because of the jalapeno sprinkled on top. The yoghurt sauce on top was also slightly sweet, without being overpowering.

Do yourself a favor and order the Roasted Brussel Sprouts. They are slightly crispy and cooked in a tangy orange, soy sauce that makes your tastebuds holler. They're accompanied by peanuts and crispy shallots for some extra crunch.

For the main meals, I ordered the Duck & Waffle. Crispy Duck Leg. Yum. Fluffy Waffle. Yum. Fried Egg + Syrup. Double Yum. I am so glad that I ordered this entree. It was perfectly crispy and all of the flavors worked together to create a rich, sweet and savory dish.

My sister ordered the Jerusalem Artichoke Ravioli with caramelized cauliflower and brown butter crumble. It was saucy and delicious.

I'm so glad that we visited Duck & Waffle. It's the perfect place to come for a celebratory meal with friends or a lover. It's beautiful and will make any night extra special. Big shoutout to the bartender who snapped some amazing pictures for us.

See you soon, London.
